Our Story
How it all
started
In 2007, Jean opened the first Gingy’s in Malvern, PA. Jean had been involved in local cooperatives for more than 10 years. It seemed like the right time to open a store of her own with her children going off to college, getting jobs, and her youngest, Betsy, getting her driver’s license. Malvern, where she grew up, is a charming small town and seemed like the perfect place to start.

Why the name
Gingy's

Gingy was Jean’s nickname when she was growing up. To distinguish from Jean’s Aunt Jean she was Jean G, which said fast is Gingy. Feel free to call Jean “Gingy” if you see her, she loves the nickname!
Happiness Is...
Getting to work with your daughter
From the time she was 3, Betsy loved to tag along with Jean when she went to work on things at the different cooperatives. Betsy seemed to be born with fashion in her blood.

When Jean decided to open the second store in Stone Harbor, NJ in the summer of 2012, Betsy was still in college and spent two summers at the shore helping to make the store what it is today.
(Fun fact: sitting on the beach in summer of 2013 Jean and Betsy decided to create their own line of clothing originally named Jean G Designs.)
In the fall of 2014 Betsy headed to NYC to work for Julie Brown. She loved working there and only left when Jean decided to open a third store in Newport, RI in 2016.
Now you can never be quite sure where you will find them: in one of the stores, designing, laughing together or lounging on the beach.
Feel Fabulous Every Day!
That’s our goal, to help you feel fabulous everyday.
All of our stores are so special to us. We hope you will come into one of the stores just to say “hi” and visit. We want to hear about you and what you are looking for. We can help you shop for new additions to your wardrobe and home or pick up a gift for your BFF. Every item is hand selected by our team just for you!
Create your own style!
That’s what Jean and Betsy did.
When they started the clothing line they were hoping to design styles that they loved and that their customers would want to wear every day.
Our styles are designed to make you feel great. The Gingy prints are all custom designed – Jean and Betsy draw inspiration from the world around them: the ceilings in the Newport mansions, a family brooch or trivet, seaweed and coquinas on the beach and flowers in the garden.
(Fun fact: Jean did a lot of silk screening in college and even in her home when her first two children were babies.)
We think that when you find a style you love you will want it in multiple prints!

Prints with purpose
In an effort to give back to the communities where you find the stores, Betsy and Jean have linked their prints to different local charities.
For the last 5 years Gingy’s has given back more than $20,000.00 through their private label collections to local charities special to the Gingy’s Team. The organizations they support include Home of the Sparrow in Pennsylvania, Lucy’s Hearth in Rhode Island, Casa Cape May County, Breastcancer.org, and The Alzheimer’s Association. The customers chose The Alzheimers Association in 2018! Have a charity you want us to get involved with? Email customerservice@gingys.com
